The Franchise King's Weekend Round-Up, October 9th, 2010

Some of my more pro-active royal subjects have been scouring the www for interesting and informative stories all week, and here's what they came up with;

I'm starting to wonder of small business loans are starting to get approved. You know; approved. Rieva Lesonsky shares some data on this Small Business Trends post.

There's a new blog for you rocket scientists; Escape Velocity. I'm kidding; It's not for rocket scientists. It's for folks that want to do things better. Chris Brogan has assembled a star-studded team to help him "launch" this. Liz Strauss, Chris Garrett, Carol Roth, Jonathan Fields, and Chris Guillebeau, are writing here.

Jason Calacanis shot off an email to the fine folks (who don't seem to care about your privacy) at Facebook. Actually, he sent it right to Zuckerberg. He strongly suggested to Zuckerberg that he let folks opt-in to the new Groups. I guess that Jason doesn't really want to join any Facebook Nazi Groups or anything similar, unless he actually wants to. Read Jason's email. Opinion; The folks at Facebook don't really care about your privacy. Read this blog post.

Finally, for those of you who comment here, I just changed to a new commenting platform called Intense Debate. I think you'll like it.

A Green, Wormy Interview Tuesday On Small Business Trends Radio

Steve Rucinski, and Anita Campbell have a weekly radio program focusing on today’s Small Business Trends. This week, a Green subject is being discussed, as Tom Szaky, Founder of TerraCycle, discusses the recycling of plastics, and how his company converts plastics etc. into useable products. Green Franchising On Earth Day 2008

Earth_day
Today is Earth Day!
As more and more of us start to understand words like "sustainability, and "carbon neutral", it is becoming increasingly clear that things that are "green" are not a fad. Take Pizza Fusion, a pizza franchise out of Florida. I mentioned them in my guest column over at Small Business Trends last year, and they are starting to grow.

Entrepreneur magazine did a story on them in January. Read

Here's something that's really cool; they use Toyota Prius's for their pizza deliveries. It is quite refreshing to see a concept that it so well thought out! This is how to franchise something, folks.
