Why Jim Blasingame is a Royal Subject

Jim Blasingame is the Small Business Advocate. Oh … you didn’t know that?

Jim Blasingame and Joel Libava

5 years ago, I was working with a boutique PR firm, and I told Rhonda that I wanted to start getting on the radio again. (I was an on-air announcer and DJ many years ago.) But, I wanted to be on the radio as a guest. She had her team, (Courtney and the gals) work on some ideas, and thought that I would be a good fit for what Jim Blasingame was doing. (Jim had a really popular Small Business Radio Show.)

Jim and I bonded really, really well–our first time on the air together, and I’m now a regular guest on his show Listen to our recent discussion on how to do franchise research.

One reason that I like Jim so much is his music. I’m not sure if he does this on purpose, (because I live in The Rock n Roll Capital of the World) but he’s always playing some great jams in the background as he introduces me.

Jim, write this on a rock; I’m requesting something from these guys for the December 5th interview;

You choose the tune, Jim.

Another thing I like about Jim is his never-ending focus on small business. Jim Blasingame is one of the world’s foremost experts on small business and entrepreneurship, and is the creator and award-winning host of The Small Business Advocate® Show, the world’s only weekday radio talk show dedicated to small business, nationally syndicated since 1997.

In 2008, Jim won the ASBDC’s “Champion of Small Business Development Award.” He’s won many others, and is very influential in the small business community. If you’re involved in the small business space, Jim’s a guy that you should get to know. (If he’s ever in your area, find a way to meet him.) And…listen to his radio show.

Jim and I will be announcing something pretty cool in the next couple of weeks. Not today, though. I want the focus to be on Jim, and all he’s done-and continues to do for small business in the US.

Thanks, Jim.

If you’d like to thank Jim, too, use the comment area below. I’m sure that he’d love to hear from you!

An Idiot-Proof Way to Find Out if You Should Become a Franchise Owner

This is so simple, even I could do it. Actually, I did do it.

About 3 years ago, I came up with a way to help prospective franchise owners figure out a few things about themselves, before they even started looking around for a franchise or two to learn about.

A few people have ridiculed it. I’ll be the first one to admit that it’s not scientific. That has to do with the fact that I’m not a scientist. I’m a King, and that’s good enough.

My limited-edition Crown

I was just interviewed on the longest-running small business radio show in the world, Jim Blasingame’s Small Business Advocate Show. Jim knew about this, and wanted me to start sharing some helpful tips from it, for his loyal listeners.

I did, and the interview includes a discussion of the Idiot-Proof tool I created to help would-be franchise owners.

Go here to listen to Jim and I discuss what folks that are thinking about becoming franchise owners need to do first. It’s Idiot-Proof.

At the end of the interview, Jim made me an offer I can’t refuse. (Except it was off-mike.) More at a later date.)

Kidcrayons

Do you remember how excited you were when you got your first 64-Pack of Crayola Crayons?
(With a built-in sharpener!)

Most likely, you also received a coloring book or two-kind of a “boxed set” for kids. Good stuff.

You set up shop. You started coloring. But..how did you color????

ANYWAY

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish,
ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.

If you are successful, you will win some false friends
and some true enemies.

Succeed anyway.

If you are honest and frank, people may cheat
you. Be honest anyway.

What you spend years building, someone may try to destroy overnight. Build anyway.

If you find serenity and happiness, they may be
jealous. Be happy anyway.

The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway.

Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough. Do it anyway.

You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and
G-d.

It was never between you and them, anyway.
