They follow procedures. They follow rules. They put their egos off to the side. They just want to win. To them, winning means being profitable. It also may mean things like;
- Having more freedom than a job offers
- Being in more control than what a job offers
- The possibility of building equity in something
- Having a legacy to pass on to their children
In order to have a shot at those four things, these folks had to take a hard look at themselves. They had to find out if they had the right franchise personality. This franchise thing is not for everybody. As a matter of fact, it’s probably not for most of you.
I don’t mean that in a negative, “You just aren’t right for franchising” kind of way. I mean that in a realistic way. In it’s simplest terms, the franchise business model is a system…but it’s not your system. Are you really going to be ok with that for the average 10 year franchise contract term?

It’s kind of all about the rules. Franchise rules. Like;
- You must follow the franchisors operations
manual
You must use their colors, their logos. (If you buy a UPS Store franchise, the
predominant color of their stores is brown.
You cannot set up your retail space with splashes of orange and green!)
There’s actually a few more.
